Organizational Evolution of a School

The academy was originally established as the "ROC Army First Non-Commissioned Officers School" by late President Chiang Kai-shek on February 1, 1957, and aimed to recruit and train outstanding non-commissioned officers and soldiers. New Standing Non-Commissioned Officer Classes were opened in 1965 to recruit graduates from junior high school, providing general high school education for two years, following which students embarked on a half year of military education. 

The academy was officially reformed and became the "Army Academy" after being integrated with the Second Non-Commissioned Officers School in 1986. The standing NCO school was restructured from two-year general high school education to three years, and NCO regular classes commenced in 1993.

After the school was restructured as a comprehensive high school on July 1, 1998, the name of school was formally changed to "National Army High School". Arms Sale English Reserve Classes and Military Secondary Expertise Education Classes were later provided. The school transformed into a place for cultivation, advanced studies, occupational education.

The school was promoted as "ROC Military Academy" following approval of the Ministry of Education on August 1, 2005. Meanwhile, the administration, teachers, and cadres of the school were reorganized to become a team whose aim is to build the military school as a high-quality military academy capable of accumulating "humanistic culture" to cultivate outstanding cadres and servicepeople for the country.
