Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering

History

The program originated from the "Electronics Department" of the Army NCO School, which was restructured into a comprehensive high school. After the institution transitioned into a junior college in 2005 (Republic of China Year 94), the department was established as the "Electronic Engineering Department." To align with the trends in technical education, the department was renamed "Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department" in 2024 (Republic of China Year 113).

The department's purpose is to implement the Ministry of National Defense's "NCO Junior College Education" policy and to adapt to the Army's development characteristics and future trends. Its goal is to cultivate professional leaders proficient in ICT and electronic technologies, in line with the military education principles of "education for application and planned cultivation." Since its elevation to a junior college in 2005, the department has recruited active-duty NCOs with a high school diploma. Starting in 2008, it also began admitting general students with a high school or vocational school diploma.

Educational goals:

  1. Cultivate non-commissioned officers with military qualities and proficiency in electronic.
  2. Prepare NCOs to obtain professional certifications.
  3. Train students to apply their professional knowledge in practical ICT and electronic technologies.

Educational concepts:

As a foundational educational unit for NCOs, the department is responsible for training NCOs with professional skills in electrical and electronic engineering. In addition to professional academic education, the curriculum includes general education and military science education.

  • General Education: Delivered by general education faculty, this component shapes students' military ethics, leadership capabilities, and humanistic qualities.
  • Military Science Education: This aspect trains students in military skills and basic etiquette. During basic training periods (summer and winter), students undergo military academic and practical courses. Upon graduation, they receive specialized training in assigned military roles.

  3. Problem-solving abilities.
  4. Continuous learning skills.
     

Features of courses:

This program imparts knowledge in electrical and electronic engineering fields, offering courses that encompass electronic circuit (chip) design, computer applications, and intelligent control. The curriculum emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, equipping students with hardware capabilities in electronics and electrical engineering and software skills in information engineering.

Students are trained to apply their learning in practical work, such as electronic circuit design, computer control, and communication systems. The program aims to develop graduates with professional expertise in the operation and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment, aligning with the NCO's motto: "I am an NCO; no one is more professional than I am."

Additionally, the program actively supports students in passing various professional skill certification exams, ensuring they acquire specialized skills. Whether serving in the military or transitioning to civilian careers, graduates are well-prepared to meet the basic requirements of the workforce.
