• Unit Introduction

On August 1, 2005, the institution transitioned to a specialized school system and revised its organizational structure. The former "Library" was officially renamed the "Information and Library Center." In response to the advent of the information-learning era, the library, once positioned as a "knowledge preserver," has now evolved into a "knowledge manager" and is stepping into a new phase as a "knowledge navigator."

The center is an RC-structured building with one underground floor and five above-ground floors, covering an area of 3,151 ping (approximately 10,413 square meters). Each floor is designed with the readers' needs and functions in mind, featuring thoughtful designs tailored to different floors. The interior decor incorporates a cultural and creative atmosphere, blending the characteristic traits of military personnel—cultured, disciplined, courageous, and steady—into a modern reading space that harmonizes technology and the humanities.

The center has a maximum storage capacity of 300,000 books and provides seating for approximately 1,000 readers. Its diverse and up-to-date collections include Chinese and Western books, audiovisual materials, and electronic resources, with a current total of nearly 180,000 items. The library continually updates and expands its hardware and software, including computers and multimedia facilities, to strengthen support for teaching and language learning. The design ensures compatibility and scalability for future development.

Smart Energy-Saving Environmental Control System:
As of October 20, 2022, the center has integrated the electrical and mechanical systems across all floors. These include lighting, power supply, air conditioning, water supply, drainage, sewage, space reservation scheduling, smart access control, and remote monitoring. A circulation service desk is set up on the first floor, enabling administrators to remotely monitor the operational status of all equipment in real-time. This effectively reduces response times for incidents, lowers labor costs, and enhances the center's safe and interconnected maintenance management, fully implementing intelligent applications.

1.Aesthetic and Cultural Highlights:

Upon entering the library, the left wall on the first floor immediately showcases the artistic work "Tribute to the Sun" by painter Hsiao Chin. The fiery, gradient circular design symbolizes the profound source of life energy in the universe. The title "Condensed Wisdom · Refined Martial Virtue" introduces a fresh and inspiring reading experience. Along the side wall, a retrospective chronicles the library's relocation and the growth of the Information and Library Center. Featuring the campus landmark "Hope Bell Tower" and paired with the insignia of a sergeant major and an LED video wall, the display underscores the institution's role as the cradle of the military's sergeant cadre. As readers navigate each corner of the library, motivational reading quotes imbued with transformative wisdom provide enlightenment and inspiration.

On the second floor, the reading space integrates seasonal themes with traditional culture and festivals, reflecting the rhythm of the 24 solar terms. The curved bookshelves, titled "Golden Years · Travel with Books", imply that time, as precious as gold, slips through our fingers, reminding readers to cherish every reading moment and use travel to enrich the depth of life.

The third floor houses a modern Chinese and Western literature section, allowing readers to savor literary masterpieces from past and present, near and far. A large wall decal of "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu introduces readers to the strategic essence of military wisdom, subtly influencing them in this literary environment.

The fourth floor adopts a tech-savvy design, offering diverse video conferencing facilities that enhance support for teaching materials. Its layout accommodates both compatibility and scalability for future development, presenting a contemporary ambiance. The audiovisual section, named "Warrior Digital Cinema", incorporates elements symbolizing the Army, Navy, and Air Force, reflecting a military-themed visual identity. In the "Home SPA Relaxation Zone", a special area features the "Ultimate New Experience" massage chairs, inviting readers to unwind and recharge for their next endeavors.

On the fifth floor, the walls are adorned with grand and vivid imagery of world military history, offering visitors a chance to learn about significant cultural and historical military events. A vertical atrium installation with the bold text "Commit to Promises" encourages library patrons to rediscover the warmth of human interaction and extend the joy of sharing books. It aims to inspire readers to leave the "treasure trove" of knowledge as true bibliophiles, enriched and fulfilled.

2.Building Overview

• The library is designed as an RC-structured building with one underground floor and five above-ground floors.

• The overall design concept integrates academics, humanities, technology, and leisure.
• The planned collection capacity exceeds 300,000 volumes.
• The total floor space accommodates up to 1,000 visitors at a time. The Information and Library Center was officially inaugurated and opened in February 2006.
• The center’s goal is to achieve diversified management in terms of space, materials, features, and intelligence, adapting to the digital era.

Opening Hours:

• Monday to Friday: 07:30–17:30
• Winter and summer break: Monday to Friday: 08:00–12:00, 13:30–17:30
• Closed on all public holidays.

Assistance provided via oral inquiries, written correspondence, phone calls, or online feedback.

(4) Venue Usage

To use the Information and Library Center as a classroom venue, applications should be submitted 3–5 days in advance to avoid overcrowding and maintain reading and learning quality.

(5) Information Services

Includes repair and maintenance of IT peripherals such as computers and printers, campus network connectivity troubleshooting, and information security operations.

• Establishes interlibrary partnerships with schools such as Chung Yuan, Yuan Ze, National Central University, Vanung University, and military library units.
• Participates in the National Academic Electronic Information Resource and E-Book Sharing Alliance.
• Links electronic resources and provides document delivery and remote services.
