Department of Mechanical and Computer-Aided Engineering
History
The original school was known as the National Army High School. An upgrade was approved by the Ministry of Education and the name was formally changed to the Army Academy R.O.C. on August 1, 2004. Administrative personnel, teachers, and cadres were organized into a quality combat team, dedicated to building a school as well as a good military academy with "humanistic qualities" to cultivate outstanding cadres and soldiers. There are 13 full-time teachers and one assistant master sergeant. The teachers include six associate professors, three assistant professors, and four lecturers. All teachers have with complete education and experience, and are serious, passionate for, and effective in, their teaching. There are also professional classrooms and 18 internship factories, such as lathe workshops.
Educational goals
- Cultivate students with foundational knowledge in mechanical engineering, professional ethics, and humanistic literacy.
- Develop students' practical skills in mechanical engineering technology and their ability to obtain professional certifications.
- Train professional non-commissioned officers (NCOs) with "problem-solving" and "lifelong learning" capabilities.
Educational concepts
- Foster students to become professional NCOs with expertise in mechanical sciences and military disciplines, embodying both intellectual and martial virtues.
- Prepare students to excel in technological warfare, pursue further studies, or leverage their skills in civilian careers upon retirement.
- Ensure students reside on campus full-time to receive comprehensive education, management, and training, allowing close monitoring and understanding of their living conditions.

Features of Courses

Aligning Curriculum Design with Military Needs:
(1) Courses are proactively designed to integrate the latest scientific and technological developments.
(2)The curriculum undergoes thorough planning and multiple levels of review, including a campus-level curriculum design review committee and external expert consultations. The finalized curriculum is approved and implemented by the Army Command Headquarters.

Comprehensive Education in Mechanical Specialization Skills:
(1)Courses such as "Patent Regulations and Writing," "Application of Mechanical Professional Software," and "Mechanical English Terminology" are offered.
(2)A new course, "Product Design Practices," was introduced in the 2021 academic year, equipping students with comprehensive knowledge in quality assurance, certification, and practical mechanical fields.

"Learning by Doing" Approach to Enhance Learning Interest:
(1) Students are encouraged to explore theoretical interests through hands-on problem-solving activities.
(2)Emphasis is placed on the effectiveness of practical skills.
(3)Capstone projects are carefully planned, with faculty supervising 5–8 students per group to allow in-depth guidance, ensuring greater depth and continuity of the projects.
