Department of Vehicle Engineering

History

The Department of Vehicle Engineering aims to fulfil two-year non-commissioned officers college policies of the Ministry of National Defense and to advance non-commissioned officers' education incorporated into army development and the directions for the establishment of occupational colleges. The department spares no effort in advancing the education of non-commissioned officers to meet preparedness needs of the military. The department actively strives to establish various teaching aids and related materials. Through self-management and quality improvement measures, the department has cultivated many quality leading non-commissioned officers with vehicle engineering technology knowledge under the two-year army college course, building the spirit of the army with diligence and energy.

 Educational Goals

The educational goals of Vehicle engineering is to develop professional leading non-commissioned officers with vehicle engineering skills on a theoretical and practical basis, cultivating the capability to maintain, inspect, and repair military vehicles. The department also develops dedication, military ethics, a moral character, and an interest in the humanities and arts, cultivating global citizens.

 Educational Concept

Adhering to the spirit of holistic education and considering both the depth and broadness of general education to cultivate professional non-commissioned officers who are "skilled, have a good sense of both civil and military affairs, and have sound morals".

  1. The Army Academy focuses on cultivating professional and technical expertise with an associate degree level of education and technical certification, preparing long-term professional non-commissioned officers for military units.
  2. General Education Curriculum: Develops students' leadership, management, foreign language, and information application skills, equipping them to become well-rounded citizens capable of solving practical problems.
  3. Vehicle Professional Curriculum: Trains students to handle vehicle maintenance, inspection, and repair tasks for military units, while laying the foundation for lifelong learning as NCOs in the armed forces.

Core Competences

  1. Cultivating students' fundamental mathematical and scientific knowledge and vehicle engineering skills.
  2. Developing the ability to apply relevant knowledge, techniques, and tools required for vehicle engineering practices.
  3. Fostering teamwork, communication, and the ability to collaboratively complete tasks.
  4. Equipping students with the skills to identify, analyze, and resolve vehicle engineering-related issues.
  5. Encouraging awareness of the environmental and social impacts of the domestic and international vehicle industry and its technologies.
  6. Building foundational abilities for lifelong learning.
  7. Instilling a strong work ethic, moral character, military ethics, and an international perspective.

Features of Courses

The department provides a basic military skills education. The study and counselling of students, teaching, research, and educational administration related development fully aligns with the six major goals of the school development plan and actions of the department to fulfill the educational goals of the school.
